Waterfront Lifeguard

1610 Sixth Line Road |Dunrobin

The Ottawa River Canoe Club (ORCC) is looking for one (1) enthusiastic person to work as a waterfront lifeguard for the summer camp programs.

Our camps provide a fun camp environment for children and youth to learn fundamental canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard skills and to encourage a lifelong interest in paddling. The camps are designed to provide participants an opportunity to paddle and socialize with their friends in a fun team environment. Campers develop water safety awareness and paddling skills while increasing their confidence on the water. The camp day includes paddling, swimming, on-land active games, crafts, and discovery time. The focus is on summer fun!

Duties:
The lifeguard will supervise children 6-10 years old and youth 11-14 years old in a day camp environment. Safety is a great concern to ORCC as all of our programs revolve around water, which increases the risk of injury to staff and participants. The lifeguard will perform the surveillance necessary to prevent accidents by administering policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of campers swimming on our waterfront and performing rescues and first aid necessary for the preservation of life in a team setting. The Lifeguard will ensure that opening and closing procedures are completed to code as it relates to overall safety.
