New class! You've heard of translating Shakespeare to Modern English, but how about translating pop culture favorites into Shakespearean English? Experience Star Wars, Episode IV like never before! Reimagined as an Elizabethan drama penned by William Shakespeare himself, complete with authentic meter, stage directions, reimagined movie scenes and dialogue, and hidden Easter eggs throughout will entertain and impress fans of Star Wars and Shakespeare alike. Every scene and character from the film appears in the play, from Darth Vader to R2D2. Students will read and discuss “Verily, A New Hope” together in class, and will perform an excerpt of this play at the end of the semester for anyone who wishes to attend!

Approximately 1 hour of homework per week.
