What does it mean to be an American? What can we expect from our government? What is expected of us? In a constitutional republic, productive civic engagement requires knowledge about the functions of state and local government, courts and legal systems, and the Constitution. We will help students come to understand the historical development, purpose, and operation of the American government on all levels to help them remain informed and involved civically throughout their lives.
