This hands-on course shows students how energy really works and how people can create their own power—just like their instructor, whose family actually lives off the grid! Jumping into the world of batteries, kids build potato batteries, coin batteries, and even create their own battery packs using real cells and LEGO frames while learning how wiring and chemistry affect power. Then we harness the power of the sun! Students build a solar pizza cooker, test different solar panels, and explore the main parts of a modern solar system. They’ll use online tools to design a virtual setup, and finally, they’ll work together to build a real 12-volt solar-and-battery system using AC/DC loads, inverters, charge controller and batteries, and solar panels.
