Description:
TUFTING is the general name for a group of old handwork skills originally used to make functional and practical products from fabric scraps. Originally used to make floor rugs gradually these practical floor warmers evolved to also become decorative art--- beautiful florals, vibrant geometric patterns, etc. and some were landscape "pictures" that warmed the heart and graced their walls. Patterns were sold through the Sears catalogues as early as the 1920s. Fee breakdown: $108 in workshop fees + $40 materials
We will breathe new life into these old skills. You will learn the basic principles and materials for rug making and other practical things and also how to enliven your creative direction. There are no hard and fast "rules" and your style will blossom into contemporary products and art pieces.
