Description:
This comprehensive course is intended to cover the main 'mechanics' of art necessary for the creation of a successful painting. These fundamental skills will help bring confidence and success to your creative vision. This course is based on the various challenges found to be common amongst beginner and developing artists. Weeks 1 - 2: Drawing accurately - The secret? Draw shapes, not things! Week 3: Light and shadow for modeling three-dimensional shapes and creating compositional patterns of light and dark, called "values." Weeks 4 - 5: Perspective - Linear and Aerial - Buildings, still life, and landscapes; reflections versus shadows. Weeks 6 - 7: User-Friendly Colour Theory: Creating colour, warms and cools ("temperature"), and colour as value. Weeks 8 - 9: Composition made simple, and working with photo references. Week 10: Drawing for painting, transferring the image to the painting surface.
