Description:

The Strait of Georgia remains one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet, but is mostly unknown to British Columbians. Learn how the Strait of Georgia ecosystem functions. Review the changing dynamics of the over 240 species of fishes that live in or visit the strait and discuss what you need to know to interpret what you hear about Pacific salmon. Much of what you know about salmon could change after this course.

Instructor: Dick Beamish, CM, OBC, PhD, DSc, FRSC, is a retired fisheries scientist who continues to study the dynamics of fishes including salmon. He recently published “The Sea Among Us – The Amazing Strait of Georgia” and "The Fishes of the Strait of Georgia" which is the background for this course.
