Description:

There’s an awful lot of BS around, in addition to lying – both in public life, and in some of our private lives as well. In this course I won’t promise to fix any of it, but only to present some understandings of the nature of BS and lying that might help you deal with them better. We’ll be reading and discussing a semi-famous article by Harry Frankfurt, and a response, that aim to explore these concepts.

Instructor: Dr. McDermid is a philosopher with expertise in critical thinking, epistemology (the study of the nature of knowledge), and philosophy of science. He has just moved to the island from Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he taught for 19 years.
