Description:
Gain the knowledge and skills needed to understand, interact with, and care for individuals living with dementia, in partnership with them. This course covers the types and stages of dementia, strategies for managing communication and behavioural challenges, self-care techniques for caregivers and other topics. Designed for those who support or interact with individuals experiencing dementia, this course is not intended for those living with dementia themselves. Instructor: Sharon Speevak is a retired lawyer whose father experienced dementia. She was a support group facilitator and educator with the BC Alzheimer Society for 14 years.
