Description:
Global warming is accelerating changes in Earth’s ecosystems, and many of these impacts are already unavoidable. This course invites participants to consider whether these changes represent only a crisis—or also an opportunity. Through out-of-the-box thinking, diverse perspectives, and emerging technologies, we will explore practical ways societies can adapt to and mitigate the effects of a rapidly changing world. Instructor: Mark Biagi is a marine biologist with over 45 years of experience in his field. He has worked in China; North, Central and South America including the Caribbean; and in Europe. For 15 years, Mark has worked closely with First Nations across British Columbia, addressing their concerns stemming from the development of large industrial projects. He has also worked closely with First Nations youth to find adaptation and mitigation strategies to address changes brought on by climate change.
