Camp Kagama turns children into Campers through OLD FASIONED PLAY!
Description
Camp Kagama is a small camp by design with just 48 campers per session. We are a not-for-profit organization established in 1936 with the purpose of providing a safe place for youth of all race, creed or religious affiliation to gather together to build friendships, and to enjoy the beauty of our natural world. And more than 20,000 campers have visited us here on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, and shared this experience. We offer a traditional program. Yes, there is a schedule for meals and activities, and we all assist in the daily tasks. We sing Grace at meal times and hold Vespers that focus on the universal mores of tolerance, caring and respect. The camp program is designed to include sport challenges, games, creative arts and crafts, water activities, canoeing, hiking, nature outings, campfire stories and singalongs. Most importantly though, we offer to our children a safe place and a time to just be children. There is guidance, but no pressure to rush through the day without finding laughter and knowledge along the way. Mutual respect, companionship and caring are at the heart of our program and our staff. And when they leave Camp Kagama, our campers take with them the the smell of campfire smoke, the feel of cool water on a hot day, the sounds of shared songs, the warmth of new friends, the pride of new knowledge and skills and the wonder of seeing the stars in the dark skies away from city lights and electronic screens.
