Description:

CANUSA Games Swimming Team – 2026 Tryouts & Summer Program

Represent Hamilton at the 2026 CANUSA Games in Flint, Michigan (August 7–9) as part of the CANUSA Swimming Team.

This program is designed for committed swimmers looking to compete, train, and be part of an international multi-sport experience that has built friendships between Hamilton and Flint for over 60 years.

Tryout Information

Date: Saturday, May 30
Location: Hill Park Recreation Centre
Check-In: 4:00 PM

Warm-ups will begin following check-in, with the tryout swim meet starting immediately after warm-ups.

Once registered, swimmers will receive an email by mid-May with instructions to select their events for the tryout meet.

Team Selection Criteria

Selection to the CANUSA Swimming Team is based on the following:

  • Performance results from the tryout swim meet
  • Commitment to attend a minimum of 50% of scheduled practices
  • Availability to attend both team bonding sessions on:
    • July 23
    • July 30

These expectations are essential to ensure team cohesion, preparation, and overall experience at the CANUSA Games.

Additional Tryout Opportunity

If roster spots remain available after the initial tryout:

Date: June 24
Location: Norman Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre
Time: 4:45 PM – 6:45 PM

This session will serve as both a practice and secondary evaluation opportunity.

Summer Practice Schedule

Training runs from June 24 through August 9, with practices held at multiple locations:

  • Norman Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre
  • Ancaster Aquatic Centre
  • Hill Park Recreation Centre

Practice times vary throughout the schedule and may change depending on facility availability.

Important:

  • Swimmers are expected to attend at least 50% of all practices
  • Some sessions will occur on different days and at different times
  • Full schedule will be provided upon registration

Team Bonding Events (Mandatory)

To build team chemistry and create a strong CANUSA experience, all swimmers are expected to attend:

  • July 23
  • July 30

These sessions take place at the pool and are a key part of the program.
