Description:
Working collaboratively, students in this class will compose an original fiddle tune from scratch. Students will break a tune down into its component framework and learn which notes of the scale we use to make phrases sound open-ended, unresolved, or closed. Working on our instruments, our voices, and in notation, this class will show you that writing a fiddle tune can be simple as asking a musical question and then answering it. Need-based tuition assistance is available. Learn more > Class Highlight: Tunewriting Workshop & Fiddle Workshop with Max Wolpert For best success in this program, students should already be able to play the G, D, and C major scales fluently (including knowing letter names of notes), and be comfortable playing and counting in 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8 time (for reference, students completing Suzuki book 1 or beginning book 2 will be just fine).
