Description:
(Ages 13-15) Teens take over the farm this week, with an action packed daily itinerary of horseback riding lessons, trail rides, hikes with the farm animals, feeding and care of the animals, and discussion of current trends that are effectiving agriculture and equestrian sports. Teens will enjoy arts and crafts classics as well as honing homesteading skills like cooking, sewing, and food preservation.
Reminders:
- Participants should dress for the weather. Long pants are required to ride.
- Bring boots with a heel and a ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet. The horseback riding program does have a small selection of boots and helmets to borrow, through size 9 womens and XL helmet size.
- Campers should bring a water bottle, snack, lunch and apply and reapply their own sunscreen, daily.
Campers will develop a critical thinking lense for common issues faced by modern agriculture with a curriculum that introduces sustainable agriculture practices. Curriculum elements are introduced with hands on learning that is fun, engaging, and creates heart felt moments with the farm animals and the land of Farrel - McWhirter Park. Many long lasting friendships have started in teen camp that bring teens back to the Park year after year!
Refund and Transfer Policy:
Cancellations and transfer requests received at least 7 days prior to the activity start date receive a full refund of activity fees, minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations or transfers received less than 7 days prior to activity start date receive a 50% refund of activity fee, or 50% of activity fee transferred to a future program. No refunds are issued for cancellations received less than 3 business days before the start date. The credit card processing fee is nonrefundable. Exceptions can be made for illness.
