Registration opens 03/10 at 9:00 am.

Ages 5-11 (Kindergarten to Elementary school age) 

Field Trip Description: Kids will learn about the history of pottery traditions and their connection to the earth. We will take a nature hike to collect texturing materials for our pottery project and then visit Maverick Potter for a lesson. Each participant will create their very own piece of pottery.

Field trips are momentous times in a child’s life. It allows them to enjoy a change of scenery and spend time outside of the classroom doing more hands-on learning. Our goal is to provide children with an engaging and educational experience, giving them exposure to our community and its resources. Creating hands-on, memorable experiences. 

 

Schedule/Rhythm: 

  • 9:00 am: Drop off, free play inside or outside 
  • 9:15 am Circle time: staff and participant introductions. The staff explains the plan for the day before reading an appropriately themed book.
  • 10:00 am: Adventure related to theme. Talk about concepts from the book along the adventure.  
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch (brought by participants) and free play 
  • 1:00 pm: Activity, experiment, and/or craft related to a daily theme 
  • 3:00 pm: Pick-up

Required age: 5 - 11 years old on the day of the activity

Notes: Children should dress appropriately for indoor and outdoor play. We recommend layers and sneakers. Please send your child with snacks, lunch, and a drink. We recommend a refillable water bottle. Drop off at 9:00am. Pick up at 3:00pm. Location: Chisolm Park Pavilion, 324 Hunt St., Salida.
