Description:
Explore the site of the first working Grist and Sawmill in Forsyth County, and one of the most important pieces of Western North Carolina's colonial history with an expert guide form Historic Bethabara Park. We will hake to the site of the 1755 Bethabara Mill, exploring the history of the site, the impact it had on North Carolina, and the way that it changed the environment. The hike is approximately 1 mile out and back, totaling about 2 miles. Please check in for these tours 10 minutes before start time. Participants must register at least 1 day before each date. This will allow the leader to contact them due to weather issues or other changes. Meet at Visitor Center. Ages 10 & up. Anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain and dress appropriately for hiking.
