Description:
Join us for a peaceful and reflective morning at Historic Bethabara Park, where we will blend birdwatching with mindfulness practices to deepen our connection to nature. Whether you're an experienced birder or a curious beginner, this event invites you to slow down, tune in, and engage fully with the natural world. Mindfulness is a practice that involves paying attention to the present moment with compassion and nonjudgement, and practicing mindfulness in nature is known to decrease stress and increase feelings of interconnection with others. Our theme on this outing will focus on grounding and presence, so we will learn techniques to cultivate more awareness in the present moment, such as mindful listening, mindful walking, and mindful breathing. While listing bird species is not our focus, we will be observing them closely and learning about local species and ecology as an anchor to the present moment. All ages and experience levels with birding and mindfulness are welcome, and families are encouraged to join. You can expect an introduction on mindfulness, a slow, guided walk, time for reflection in nature, and space to share your experiences with others.
