Description:

It is said that a haiku is started by the poet who writes it and is finished by the one who reads it. The haiku poet presents two images which capture the essence, emotions and sensory experience of a single moment, then releases the poem into the world. When the reader engages with the haiku, there is an "ah-ha!" moment when relation­ship between the two images is suddenly perceived and the reader realizes, "Of course that's how it is!” The haiku is then complete.

Come join me in this 3-hour workshop to learn more about this beautiful, brief poetic form, which is so much more than just “5-7-5.” You will leave the workshop with a deeper understanding of how to read and recognize the different levels a haiku contains, and what it takes to write a well-constructed haiku. You will leave the workshop having written your own original haiku.
