Description:

Jayne and Elizabeth have combined their knowledge in this workshop. Students will learn how to transform their own drawings, photos, or imagery from copyright-free sources into high contrast, black & white images that are ideal for etching.  After etching them onto silver, they will enhance those drawings with forming techniques to give them more dimension. They will create layouts of multiple shapes for etching and make blanking dies to quickly cut them out.

Notes: There is a $100.00 supply fee due at the beginning of the workshop. Helpful for students to bring: Black sharpie markers in a variety of widths 20g, 22g or 24g Sterling or Argentum silver sheet to etch Copyright-free books of drawings or their own drawings or images Electrical tape, any color Jeweler’s saw – 5” 3/0 saw blades, at least 3 dozen, Super Pike or Pike Platinum saw blades recommended. Otto Frei carries them. Lynx Round Bur Sets, 2.7mm to 8mm - Rio Grande #344340, and Lynx Round Bur set .05mm to 2.5mm - Rio Grande #344335 Wolf Wax High Speed Cylinder Burs - 25mm x 4.7mm - Rio Grande #345012, 25mm x 3.3mm - #345013 Joyce Chen shears or similar metal cutting shears (if they have) Dust mask Scribe
