Description:

An opportunity to collaborate and bond, our intergenerational programs offer woodworking lessons for adults and children to create imaginative projects alongside each other.

In this course each student will make their own wooden automobile, practicing how to safely use a variety of different tools and techniques in the woodshop. Let your creativity play!

Each adult may bring up to two kids (age 6-15). You must purchase a ticket for each participant. All adult + kid pairings are welcome - bring your favourite neighbour, family friend, auntie, grandparent, etc - we simply require a waiver to be signed by the child’s legal guardian prior to the class start.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Woodshop Safety: Understanding the essentials for safe practices.
  • Hand Tools: Use of rasps, saws, clamps, and dowel-making plates.
  • Power Tools: Drill press and battery-operated drills (with adult guidance).
  • Material Knowledge: Learn about hardwoods, softwoods, and engineered wood products.
  • Mathematical Concepts: Explore ideas like size relationships, clearance, and fits

What’s Included:

  • Access to all tools needed for the project.
  • A variety of wood, wheels, and decorative materials for your automobile.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe and fun experience.
