Inspired by textiles, lace, and woven structures, Lace & Yarn Effects focuses on creating delicate textures, negative space, and airy compositions using fiber paper, powders, and thin sheet glass. We’ll explore how different materials burn out in the kiln and how subtle layering choices create softness, movement, and intricate surface detail. You’ll learn: Burnout behavior of lace, yarn, and fiber materials Using powders and thin sheet glass effectively Creating organic textures and open structures Managing fragile builds in the kiln Projects may include: Lace doily impressions Organic mesh tiles “Yarn ball”–inspired forms Lightweight wearable components Pricing Includes Burnout materials Fiber paper, powders, thin sheet glass use Firings & results discussion About Kiln Club: We are a Project Club where fused glass artists gather, fire it up, figure it out and learn something new each month. Looking for a fun, social, and creative way to explore new fused glass techniques? Join our community of glass lovers for monthly fused glass projects — think book club, but with color combos, kilns, and creative sparks.
Each month, we choose a project for the group to complete together. We don't portray we know what we are doing — just willing to lead the way by picking the technique, sharing a tutorial or handout, and providing the needed supplies. We’ll meet weekly throughout to work on the project side by side, ask questions, swap tips, and cheer each other on.
Spots are limited to 8. Whether you're trying something totally new or helping others learn your favorite technique, this is your space to experiment, connect, and grow as an artist.
