Description:
Drop-out vessels combine thoughtful engineering with kiln magic to create deep, sculptural glass forms. Using vertical strip construction built “on edge” and gravity-driven drop-out firing, members will create elegant bowls and vessels with organic movement and refined rims. This advanced technique emphasizes planning, patience, and letting gravity finish the work you start. This is one of the most technically rewarding and visually striking Kiln Club techniques. You’ll learn: Vertical strip construction techniques Designing and layering fiber-paper drop rings How opening size affects final form Clean drop-out strategies Fire-polishing vs coldworking rims Projects include: Sculptural bowls or vessels Finished pieces with refined interior and exterior rims Pricing Includes Drop rings & layered fiber paper Multiple firings Edge fire-polish & finishing guidance High kiln use and sculptural outcomes. About Kiln Club: We are a Project Club where fused glass artists gather, fire it up, figure it out and learn something new each month. Looking for a fun, social, and creative way to explore new fused glass techniques? Join our community of glass lovers for monthly fused glass projects — think book club, but with color combos, kilns, and creative sparks.
Each month, we choose a project for the group to complete together. We don't portray we know what we are doing — just willing to lead the way by picking the technique, sharing a tutorial or handout, and providing the needed supplies. We’ll meet weekly throughout to work on the project side by side, ask questions, swap tips, and cheer each other on.
Spots are limited to 8. Whether you're trying something totally new or helping others learn your favorite technique, this is your space to experiment, connect, and grow as an artist.
