Description:

This class takes your wood turning skills to the next level by building on techniques and practices learned in the Introduction to Word Turning class. The class covers use of two tradition turning tools: the spindle gouge and skew chisel. With these tools you can create beautiful and intricate features. Class projects will vary for each class and will be announced in advance. These include holiday themed gifts and ornaments (snowmen, trees, ornaments,..) detailed vases, mushrooms,… With the skills learned in this class you can let your imagination run wild and create and endless variety of fun and artistic objects. Students must have taken the Introduction to Wood Turning Class or be prequalified by the instructor to take this class. One three hour class session.

Refunds, Credits & Transfers

We understand that emergencies happen, so if you are unable to attend your class and you cancel with:

• More than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, you may request a full refund or transfer the full amount paid to another class.

• Less than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, your payment is non refundable. However you may transfer the amount paid, minus a 15% cancellation fee, to any class within 90 days of request. It is not guaranteed that a comparable class will be offered within 90 days.

• Less than 48 (forty eight) hours before your class begins, your payment is non refundable. It is extremely difficult to fill cancelled spaces with short notice.

• After class start date/time: No credits, refunds or prorating of fees will be given for missed portions or early withdrawals.

Changes or Cancellations

DIYcave reserves the right to cancel any class, limit class size, change class times or substitute instructors for those listed in the schedule. If a class is canceled, students may choose to receive a full refund or may transfer – with no fee – to another class or workshop. If DIYcave cancels for any reason, all payments can be refunded.

Notes: Please arrive for class in closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long hair must be tied back. Layers are encouraged as the shop can be very cold or very hot. If you have personal protective equipment such as your own safety goggles, please bring it with you. Otherwise, protective gear will be provided as needed. Prerequisites: This is an advanced lathe turning class. You must be DIYcave lathe certified to take this class. There are 3 options to become Lathe Certified: - Take our Intro to Wood Lathe Turning class and complete the certification test.  - Schedule a private instruction and complete the certification test or -If you have prior lathe experience you can request certification. Ages 13+ welcome if accompanied by a parent/guardian. Both need to register and pay.

Skill requirement: Wood Lathe - Wood Lathe Certified (non Powermatic lathes)
