FAMILY PROGRAMS

Our time is spent exploring the natural environment, practicing risk management, developing mindfulness, embracing passions, and engaging in games and activities that teach. Through opportunities to connect with your self, with your community, and with nature, we aim to develop critical thinking skills, resiliency, focus, and overall physical, social, and emotional well-being of individuals and the whole group.

WEEKLY PARENT & TOT: ROOTS & SHOOTS PROGRAM (0+ YEARS)

Parents, preschoolers, toddlers, and babies alike will have opportunities to socialize and interact with others and the natural environment and activities will include short hikes, outdoor activities with age-appropriate tools and loose parts, stories, songs, and lots of play. This program is meant to introduce families to the Forest School experience and to provide opportunities for families to spend time together outside in nature.

Hours

• Weekly Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:30am to 11:30am throughout Fall Term (14 weeks) and Spring Term (13 weeks)

Registration Details

• 25% deposit due at time of registration; installment plans available for no fee
• Per Term Commitment or Drop in Options
• The first child on each registration is required to pay the "Child Rate", even if  they are younger, and each registration must have at least one person aged 18+
  • $26+HST per day per First Child: Any Age + First Adult (18+ yrs)
  • $9+HST per day per each Additional Child (15 months - 17 yrs)
  • $0 per day per each Additional Child (0 - 15 months)
  • $5+HST per day per each Additional Caregiver (18+ yrs)
• Alternate Caregivers (those attending in place of the registered Caregiver, must still register but at no additional fee - please reach out to michellegraves@dogwoodforest.ca if registering an alternate caregiver)

SEASONAL FOREST FAMILIES PROGRAM (4+ YEARS)

Children and parents alike will spend time together outside within each season exploring, learning, creating & playing. Parents will have an opportunity to experience “forest school” alongside their child, taking part in games, skill development such as tool use, and enjoying a meal around the fire together

Hours

• 1 Saturday per season, 10am to 12pm with free time from 12 - 1pm for lunch around the fire (food not provided)
• Fall: Oct 5, 2024; Winter: Feb 8, 2025; Spring: May 10, 2025

Registration Details

• Sign up for all 3 or drop in to individual sessions
• The first child on each registration is required to pay the "Child Rate" and each registration must have at least one person aged 18+
  • $26+HST per day per First Child + First Adult (4+ yrs)
  • $9+HST per day per each Additional Child (4+ years)
  • $5+HST per day per each Additional Adult (18+ yrs)
