Description:

Blue whales, the largest animals on Earth, are members of a diverse group of species that rely on the ocean for survival. These organisms are referred to as marine mammals and include animals such as seals, whales, manatees, sea otters, and polar bears. Throughout the week, students will participate in a combination of hands-on activities, games, interactive lessons, and crafts as they learn about feeding adaptations used by different species, why some marine mammals migrate, and how mammals that live in polar habitats survive. We will break up time in the lab with trips to local beaches and boating adventures out on Duxbury Bay! The highlight of the week includes a full-day field trip aboard a whale watch out of Plymouth Harbor! *This program will transport students in a 15-passenger van to local beaches & down to Plymouth for a whale watch.

Required age: 9 - 13 years old as of 9/1/2026

Notes: This program uses a 15-passenger van to transport students. Participants will go on a field trip to Plymouth to go on a Whale Watch. The schedule might change slightly on the day of the field trip. More details will be provided via email leading up to the start of the program.
