Description:

Give your homeschooler a year of hands-on scientific discovery on and around Duxbury Bay! Designed for curious learners, our homeschool program combines marine science, environmental education, and outdoor exploration to create an engaging learning experience that goes far beyond the traditional classroom.

This year, we've made registration easier than ever by offering enrollment for the entire school year, allowing families to enjoy a consistent schedule without re-registering every few weeks. Flexible payment plans are also available to help make participation more accessible.

Classes meet Mondays from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, complementing local homeschool schedules and providing a full morning of enriching, project-based learning. Throughout the year, students will investigate the ever-changing coastal environment as the seasons unfold. They'll explore topics including oceanography, marine ecology, Earth science, weather, climate, erosion, conservation, and the incredible plants and animals that inhabit our local waters.

Learning comes to life through hands-on experiments, field investigations, and real scientific inquiry. Students may grow algae and test environmental conditions, discover the greenhouse effect through interactive experiments, explore waves, tides, and ocean chemistry, and investigate how human actions impact our coastlines. They'll also visit local beaches, collect data in the field, and participate in exciting review games and collaborative activities that reinforce each unit.

One of the most exciting parts of our program is getting students out into the environment they're studying. Throughout the year, classes take advantage of our 15-passenger van, Carolina skiff, and kayaks to explore Duxbury Bay and surrounding habitats firsthand. Whether collecting specimens, observing wildlife, or conducting investigations along the shoreline, students gain meaningful experiences that deepen their understanding of science and foster a lasting connection to the natural world.

All lessons are designed to support the Next Generation Science Standards while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and environmental stewardship. Join us for a full year of exploration, discovery, and adventure on the bay!
