Description:
Though we are inundated by digital information in the modern world, we seem increasingly removed from the joy of inspired writing. Our appetite for excellent reading has not changed; our hunger to write and reach an audience has not diminished. So why the collective ennui and inaction? *Each participant will receive a copy of Larry's new book.
We need refuge from the splintering effect of social media and technology. Most of all we need to follow our creative urges and not be swallowed by collective thinking. (We did not get Taylor Swift tickets, and we are fine with that).
This writing workshop has three goals:
1. To overcome inertia, procrastination, and the collective ennui of our times in awakening or rekindling individual passion for creative written expression. (We are not cheap factory knock off brands; we are Paris originals).
2. To carve out a space, a mood, a discipline and invoke the power of habit to move from writing intention to the ongoing actions of a writer.
3. To create—however modestly at first and beginning with our workshop group—a writing community. Though we tend to fancy writers as lonely, impoverished, sullen cranks without social skills, writers desire the company of other writers as much as they crave J.K. Rowling’ s extensive readership (okay, so bit of an exaggeration, but for dramatic purpose).
We, who write about the world, do so best while participating in it. We are social, writing is social, and creativity can flourish into that sweet spot in the community of a motivated and supportive group.
