Description:
Intermediate Sailing is designed to be a direct follow-up to Basic Sailing. It is ideal to take the two courses back-to-back, one right after the other, or as soon as possible.
We resume your progressive skill development using our fleet of double-handed Quest centerboard sloops. The emphasis is on refining helmsmanship, crew work, heel control, aerodynamics of sails, perfecting sail trim, and the correct use of sail-shape controls, and helm imbalances.
Daily, our instructors set a color-coded closed-course of inflatable buoys for on the water drills. The course is laid out to emphasize the target skills of that day’s lesson plan. The sailing drills follow the classroom briefing and the classroom briefing follows the accompanying student manual. It’s all carefully organized and methodical.
Intermediate Sailing is a 12-hour course, 3-hours per day, scheduled on back-to-back summer weekends to accommodate busy working adults.
Please note: Tod’s Point Sailing School is located in Greenwich Point Park which requires Town issued Beach Passes or Guest Passes for access to the Park. Greenwich residents can apply for Beach Passes at Town Hall and Out of Town Non-Resident Guest Passes can be purchased online on the Town of Greenwich website here.
