Description:

Participants will analyze the impact of pop culture on youth development and assess social-emotional risk and protective factors. Participants will be able to assess how media exposure contributes to both risk factors (e.g., anxiety, comparison, body image concerns, behavioral modeling) and protective factors (e.g., community belonging, self-expression, cultural connection) in youth clients. During this workshop discussions will occur in applying practice strategies in clinical and school settings. Participants will be able to implement at least two evidence-informed strategies to help youth critically engage with pop culture while strengthening social-emotional skills, resilience, and healthy identity development.
