Kleptz YMCA Youth LEARN-TO-SWIM LEVEL 6: SWIMMING AND SKILL PROFICIENCY
(ages 6-12)

The objective of this level is to refine strokes, so participants swim them with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances. Fitness Swimmer option helps focus on preparing participants for more advanced courses, such as the Water Safety Instructor course, or other aquatic activities such as competitive swimming or diving.

Notes: Lessons on October 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, and 19, and December 3rd

Prerequisites: Completed Level 5 Exit Skills Assessment with Certified Water Safety Instructor. 1. Perform a shallow angle dive into water at least nine feet deep. Swim front crawl for 50 yards, then swim elementary backstroke 50 yards using appropriate and efficient turning styles throughout. 2. Swim breaststroke for 25 yards change direction of travel as necessary, then swim back crawl for 25 yards using appropriate and efficient turning styles throughout.
