Explore summer adventures with Lindenhurst Park District, whether your child is an aspiring explorer, a budding artist, or simply looking to make new friends, our camp offers a wide range of activities and opportunities to create lasting memories.  We will visit Oak Ridge Park Splash Pad each week and take a weekly field trip on Wednesdays, then campers will enjoy themed events every Friday. 

Camp Exploration is held at the Lindenhurst Park District’s Lippert Community Center.  Campers will take advantage of all of the amenities the Community Center has to offer including a full-sized gym, track, playgrounds, parks, and nearby walking paths.

Camp Exploration runs daily from June 3 through August 16; No camp July 4. Camp starts at 9:00am and ends at 3:00pm.  Early Bird and Stay and Play options available!

Registration is Easy!

Families have the flexibility to register for Daily (“Drop-In” Registration) or by the Week (“Session Registration”). 

• Daily (“Drop-In”) Registration is the best option for families who are looking for a camp experience for their child on specific days or intermittently throughout the summer.  
• Weekly (“Session”) Registration gives families the best value and includes all activities, outings, and trips for the chosen week.
• Wednesday Field Trip Only registration fills up fast and space is limited! If a waitlist exists, staff will evaluate and inform families of their registration status the week before the trip.

Pre-Registration is required for all Camp Exploration options; registration must be received by the advertised weekly deadline to avoid a $40 late fee, if space is available.

  • Provide/Update your information and your child’s information – be sure to enter/update the grade level your child will be entering in Fall 2024 and a current t-shirt size!

Our diverse weekly themes provide campers with a range of experiences, ensuring they have a memorable and enriching summer camp adventure.

• Wilderness Explorers – Campers embark on nature hikes, learn about their local environment, and explore the great outdoors.  Activities include camping skills, nature hunts, and wilderness skills.
• Pirate Adventure Island – Campers set sail on a swashbuckling adventure, engaging in treasure hunts, pirate-themed challenges, and even a camp-wide search for the hidden booty.
• Animal Adventures – Campers learn about different animal species, engage in wildlife conservation activities, and will even visit the zoo!
• Sports Spectacular – Get ready for a week of athleticism and team spirit with a variety of sports and games, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and relays.  Campers will engage in friendly competitions and tournaments.
• Party in the USA – Get ready to celebrate July 4 in style!  Campers will immerse themselves in the patriotic spirit of the holiday. 
• Science & Space – Dive into the world of science and astronomy.  Campers conduct hands-on experiments and learn about the wonders of the universe.
• Adventures in the Water – Dive into water-based activities like swimming, Splash Pad visits, and water games.  Campers will have a splashing good time.
• Super Hero Academy – Campers embrace their inner superheroes, participating in challenges, obstacle courses, and character-building activities.  They will also learn about real-life heroes and their inspirational stories.
• Olympic Games Challenges  – Campers participate in a camp-wide Olympic Games event, competing in various sports, teamwork challenges, and cultural activities inspired by the Olympic spirit
• Carnival Spectacular – Experience the thrill of the carnival right at camp!  Campers will be delighted by a week filled with classic carnival games!
• Artistic Expressions – Campers tap into their creative side through various artistic endeavors, such as painting, sculpting, drama, and music.  They display their creations in a camp-wide art exhibition on Friday, August 16 at 2:00pm.

Meet the Staff and Parent Orientation

• Wednesday, May 22 - 5:30pm-6:30pm at the Lippert Community Center. All families are encouraged to attend.
  • Parents – meet our staff, listen to a presentation and get all of your Camp Exploration questions answered.  You will also tour our summer camp location!
  • Campers – Meet camp counselors, see your camp space, and become familiar with the building. Camp staff will provide supervision and facilitate play while parents are in orientation.

Newsletter

A weekly newsletter, including a calendar will be sent to the email on file the Friday prior to the start of the week with a schedule of events and activities planned.  Activities and scheduled events may change throughout the week due to weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
