Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Classes may be canceled if fewer than three (3) participants are registered. In such cases, affected participants will be notified and offered an alternative option or refund. Reschedule Requests: If you are unable to attend the event you booked, we require at least 48 hours (2 full days) notice prior to the class start time in order to transfer your booking to a future event. This allows us time to fill your spot. Requests made the day before the class, on the day of the class, or after the class has started will not be honored for rescheduling or credit under any circumstances. Attendance Policy: Whoever is registered for the class must be the one in attendance. No participant substitutions or transfers are allowed after the first class has started. Final Sale Policy: All bookings are final. We do not offer refunds, same-day reschedules, or booking modifications once your purchase is complete. Pottery Outcomes Disclaimer: Pottery is an art form that takes years to master. While we do our best to teach proper techniques and handle your work with care, cracks, imperfections, and breakage may occur—either due to user error or natural flaws in the materials or firing process. These outcomes are an unfortunate but common part of working with clay. We are not responsible for pieces that crack, break, or do not meet your expectations, and no refunds will be issued for damaged or imperfect pieces. Our goal is always to help your work turn out as beautifully as you imagine, but we also hope you value the experience, creativity, and learning process. We encourage you to come back and keep trying—each piece brings you one step closer to mastery. Glazing Policy: You have up to 4 weeks from the date your piece is created to return and complete the glazing process. After this period, we will assume the piece is no longer wanted, and it will be recycled or discarded to make room for new work. Please note that we do not send personal reminders regarding glazing. While we may post general updates on social media when pieces are ready, it is your responsibility to remember to return. To avoid missing the deadline, we recommend scheduling your glazing session at the time of your visit or making a note to return within the 4-week window. Firing Policy: We do not offer firings for pieces created outside of MadeBy. All work must be made with our clay and glazes in order to be fired in our kilns. Kilns are fired twice weekly, depending on the amount of work that needs to be fired. We do not fire single pieces to accommodate individual schedules—only full kilns are fired. If you need a piece completed by a specific date, this must be arranged personally with Sienna in advance and cannot be guaranteed. All pieces must have an identifiable mark or initials. Unmarked work will not be bisque fired, as we cannot determine ownership. Studio Hours & Access: MadeBy is open 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, seven days a week for members to work on their projects at their own pace. Specific pickup times are posted on our social media—please be flexible and understanding, as we operate with limited staff. We do our best to keep up with the high influx of messages and phone calls, which are returned within 24–48 hours. Personal Belongings: We are not responsible for items you bring into the studio and leave behind. MadeBy is a shared space, so please be respectful of others’ belongings, but we cannot assume responsibility for personal items. By purchasing a class or event at MadeBy, you confirm that you have read and agreed to all terms and conditions, including this cancellation policy.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites This class is designed for students with prior wheel-throwing experience. Participants should feel comfortable with: Centering clay consistently on the wheel Pulling walls to an even height and thickness Trimming and refining thrown forms If you’re still brand new to the wheel, we recommend starting with our Beginner Wheel Throwing Class before enrolling in this lamp-making course. This ensures you’ll be ready to focus on design, form, and lamp construction without needing extra time on the basics.
