Plankton Exploration
Dive into the microscopic wonders of the marine world with a day dedicated to the fascinating realm of plankton! Students will begin by comparing the diverse habitats of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of these tiny but crucial organisms. Hands-on activities include collecting plankton using a real plankton net, observing these minuscule creatures under a microscope, and designing their own plankton models with craft supplies. This immersive experience allows students to explore the unique adaptations of plankton and their vital roles in aquatic ecosystems, while fostering a greater appreciation for the complexity of marine life.

Required age: 5 - 11 years old on the day of the activity

Prerequisites: Students must be entering K - 5th grades.
