Description:

If you are a middle school student, STEM Power  is the place to begin your Maydm journey. This program combines popular technology topics in STEM with fun projects and allows you to be creative while learning and building your tech skills.

  • Programming basics with block coding: Build coding skills quickly while learning programming structures.
  • Game Development: Learn to create arcade-style games, program game controls and rules. Design pixel art and animation, music, storytelling with games.
  • Virtual Reality: Use hands-on tools to make your own virtual spaces and practice advocacy and belonging in digital spaces.
  • 3D Printing from design to object: Design and manufacturing, precision, computer-aided design
  • Robotics and Electronics: Building, troubleshooting, and programming robots. Inputs and outputs. Robotics in art and design. Responsive/reactive/automated robotics.

 

STEMinism and STEM Power are introductory classes, and the topics and activities are similar each summer. If your student has attended this program before, you may consider registering for one of our other programming options this summer.

Prerequisites: STEM Power is for all genders, who will be going into 6th-8th grade in Fall 2025. (Maydm offers this same for girls, and girl-identifying youth as well! Check out STEMinism).
