Description:

Learn piano with Merit this year! Piano gives young music lovers a creative outlet and is a fun way to learn to read music and build strong practice habits. 

Your child will begin playing in a class of 5 to 6 students with ample opportunity for group learning and individual support. Students will practice reading music, defining basic vocabulary terms, and performing a variety of pieces. 

Your child will learn the following skills: 

• Recognizing parts of the musical staff 
• Reading rhythms and notes in treble and bass clefs 
• Maintaining proper posture and hand position 

Don’t forget your instrument! Every student will need their own instrument before the first day of class. Check out Merit's Music & Instrument Library to learn about your instrument rental options. 

Please note: The deadline for winter/spring registration is January 8. Register by this date to ensure your child is enrolled for the start of programming.
