Description:

West African Dance Intensive explores the traditional songs, dances and rhythms from various cultures in the region. The movements are energetic, precise, emphasize the torso, and rhythmic involving gestures and intricate foot patterns

Students will learn:

To engage the entire body fully

Move different body parts simultaneously to different beats in the rhythm

Understand how to stay "grounded" in the movements and connect to the floor

To respond to 'the break" when played by the drummer.

Class is accompanied by live drumming.
