Description:

Beginning players will learn how to properly care for their instrument and develop proper bowing technique and finger positioning, foundational music theory, rhythm, note reading, and more. As players progress, lessons will build on foundational skills by refining their technique, expanding their reading skills, and enhancing control over dynamics and articulation. Students explore a diverse repertoire, improve sight-reading, and develop musical interpretation skills, all while engaging in more complex technical exercises. This class is also open to viola and cello students. 

Focused content: 

  • Introduction to the instrument. 
  • Introduction to violin music. 
  • Fingering technique. 
  • Music notation.

Notes: Drums and piano students do not have to bring their instruments to class. All other students should always bring their instruments and music to class.
