Description:
Join us for our 2nd Nature Mindfulness workshop with CPAWS! At Baudry Trail in Ste. Agathe, on October 12th, from 10am-11:30am. In this workshop, we will explore multiple ways to connect to nature, the benefits of mindfulness, and exploring both through creativity. Participants will be introduced to multiple ways to connect to nature including nature journaling, an incredible practice that helps connect us to the outdoors and offers a better understanding of the world we live in. This type of journaling involves immersing oneself in nature, practising quiet observation and encourages curiosity of the plants, animals and landscapes all around us. Participants will also learn about the Japanese practice of forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, and how spending prolonged mindful time in nature has proven to significantly decrease levels of stress hormones, improve sleep, decrease tension, lower blood pressure and heart rate. This workshop includes a short guided walk with authentic interpretations of the wild space including tree and plant identification/uses. Carly Gray leads the Outdoor Education Program for CPAWS Manitoba. She is a certified teacher from the University of Winnipeg and joined CPAWS in June of 2022. Carly has delivered outdoor and environmental programming to thousands of Manitobans, both children and adults - she is passionate about connecting people and nature, blending environmental education with wellness initiatives. In her free time, Carly loves to solo travel the world, explore wild spaces, ride her bike, and tend prairie plants and vegetables in her garden.
