We thank you for your time spent completing the  Intake application. Your response will be recorded and you will hear from an NBS representative regarding your dancers class placement.  

We strongly encourage a short intake call for all of our NEW students, an NBS representative will be in touch regarding booking this call. 

Each of our classes has a small subsidized fee attached. Please note at NBS, we believe that dance education should be accessible to all members of our community, and work to remove barriers that may deter potential students from participating in our programming. The Adaptive Dance financial assistance program covers all program fees for the duration of the term. Applications for this subsidy is the "Financial Assistance Application" suggested when adding this application to your cart, please fill out the form and an NBS representative will be in touch. 

Class Streams:

All of our classes are 45-minute sensory-friendly creative movement classes, with a focus on providing opportunities for children to explore creative expression and the joy of movement. We offer two streams of programming and within each stream there are classes offered for:

1. Pre Primary School Grades (JK and SK)
2. Primary School Grades (1-3)
3. Junior School Grades (4-7)
4. Intermediate School Grades (8-12) 

* Please note your dancer must be 3 years of age as of September 2024 *
 

• Family Creative Movement and Music class: Each class is led by an NBS Community Dance Educator and Music Therapist and supported by a live accompanist. Our program is centred around celebrating the joy of dance, and our dancers are welcome to engage in the class in a way that feels right to them. This class is for dancers ages 4-6 and their grown-up. This program stream is a chance for the dancers and their grown-ups to participate in dance class together. These 45-minute sensory-friendly dance classes provide opportunities for children to explore creative expression through movement, song, and tactical props, such as drums, scarves and rhythm sticks. The goal of this class is to provide an opportunity for self-exploration and for the dancers to participate in a way that works best for them that day. Within the class, the dancer's grown-up is their designated 1:1.

 

• Creative Movement Stream 1: The program offers 1:1 support in  adapted creative movement classes for children ages 5+ with diverse physical, developmental and sensory needs. Each class is led by an NBS Community Dance Educator and supported by a live accompanist, an Occupational Therapist and a team of volunteers. Our program is centered around celebrating the joy of dance, and our dancers are welcomed to engage in the class in a way that feels right to them.

 

• Creative Movement Stream 2: The program offers adapted creative movement classes for children ages 5+ with diverse physical, developmental and sensory needs who are working more independently and ready for 2-step instructions. Each class is led by an NBS Community Dance Educator and supported by a live accompanist and a team of volunteers. Our program is centered around celebrating the joy of dance, and our dancers are welcome to engage in the class in a way that feels right to them. This stream hosts an end-of-year presentation in its 3rd term.
