In Person Dance Class Assistant

Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) is looking for volunteers with a diversity of experience and a mix of skill sets such as; Special Education, Dance Education, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

The NBS Kids – Adaptive Dance Program was created by NBS, in consultation with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and offers adapted creative movement classes for participants ages three to adult with diverse physical, developmental and sensory needs. This program is centred on fostering a love for dance and dancers are welcome to engage in the class in a way that feels right to them.

Volunteer opportunity: Each class is led by an NBS Community Dance Educator and supported by a live accompanist. All of our Stream 1 programming is accompanied by an Occupational Therapist and a team of volunteers that provide 1:1 support throughout the class. While our Stream 2 and 3 programming is tailored toward dancers who are both ready and working towards participating more independently in programming, with volunteers present to support.

Application Instructions

• For applicants under the age of 18: Please have your parent or guardian create an account. Once the account is created, press "Register" and select/add the applicant as the participant.

Step 2:  Complete the checkout process by selecting "Proceed to checkout" and "Proceed to payment" until you reach the full application page. There is no fee to complete this application.

Step 3: Complete the application in full and press "Proceed to payment" to submit. You will receive an email confirmation of this form completion. You must complete the entire form within 1 hour to submit. Do not navigate away from the application page, as changes will not be saved.

• For applicants under the age of 18: The final portion of the application must be completed by a parent or guardian.
