Description:

Description  PS 154 is one of the luckiest After School programs around with our long-standing and robust ceramics program! In these classes, even the youngest ceramicists are able to hand build and glaze personal creations each week. As children progress, Aoife and her assistants from Park Slope Pottery introduce new techniques so children can retake the class and progress at their own speed throughout the school year. New students and younger children can start in our Wednesday handbuilding classes to learn the basics. Older children and those with previous ceramics experience who would like to take their pottery practice further are encouraged to enroll for our Wheelwork classes on Thursdays. For the spring session, we’ve added an Advanced Wheelwork for children who are ready to tackle more challenging projects on the wheel.

Instructor  Aoife Pacheco is a teaching artist specializing in craft education. She holds a BA in Sculpture from Oberlin College and an MA in Elementary Education from CUNY Brooklyn College. Since 2008, Aoife has run Park Slope Pottery, a clay and craft studio which seeks to help communities bond through meaningful craft-based experiences.
