Description If your child enjoyed the Toy Making club or was interested in giving it a try, they’ll love Building & Books! Each week, children will be inspired to make their own inventions based on stories from their favorite (and newly introduced) books. Each session will begin with a different age-appropriate read-aloud to spark the imagination and prime the pump. The Koko Teaching Artists will then pose a design challenge question about a theme from the story. Kids will use their imaginations plus recyclable materials to create and build individual inventions that further explore their ideas.

Instructor Koko NYC is a South Slope, Brooklyn-based organization that brings imaginative programming to children in 25 schools throughout New York City. By using real tools and recycled materials in sustainability focused programs, children in Koko classes explore the intersection of tech, art, and environment. Empowered by Teaching Artists, Koko classes foster confidence in children to take risks, think big, and learn from failure.
