Rippleffect is a non-profit youth and community development organization operating outdoor adventure programming out of Portland, Maine.
Description
Rippleffect's mission is to promote youth development and leadership through adventure, healthy communities and living sustainably. We believe that hands-on adventure education is fundamental to healthy development of citizens and communities. Our students build confidence, develop critical leadership skills, strengthen relationships, and grow their appreciation for the outdoors through exploration of Cow Island, the waters of Casco Bay, and the wilderness of New England. We own Cow Island, a beautiful 26-acre eco-campus in Casco Bay, Maine, where we run many of our youth and adult programs. We also have developed a mainland facility, the Rippleffect Outdoor Community Center, that is a central piece in Rippleffect's vision to provide equitable access for all Maine youth, starting in our backyard of Portland. This site is a launching point for groups to make connections, challenge themselves, and foster the next generation of outdoor adventurers. Our year-round program offerings include summer camps and expeditions, after-school programs, adventure clubs, and partnerships with local schools and organizations. Serving over 4,000 youth and adults each year, we are leaders in outdoor adventure and experiential education in the Northeast region.
