STUDIO ART: PAPER MÂCHÉ BOWLS AND RAINSTICKS

Art Projects in Paper Mâché, Paper Sculpture, Painting, Drawing and Collage

Before starting these two sculpture projects, we discuss what we know about colour

and pattern, and have fun with some short projects to expand that vocabulary. We

put that knowledge to work when we paint our 3-D bowls and rainsticks!

We make small ‘stabiles’ after looking at Alexander Calder’s work, and a colourful

painting inspired by Henri Matisse. We’ll read Raven the Trickster, a tale from the

Pacific Northwest, and make a paper collage inspired by the designs and colours

found in the illustrations.
