Description:

Welcome to the Neurodivergent Tweens Music Group! This engaging music therapy group is designed to foster self-expression, positive social interactions, and emotional growth for neurodivergent tweens ages 10-13. Using music as a tool for connection and self-discovery, participants will develop valuable skills in a fun and supportive environment.

In our sessions, we will use engaging music therapy techniques such as songwriting, instrument play, musical games, rhythm-based activities, and music listening to achieve the following goals:

  • Self-Expression: Encouraging creative expression through songwriting, improvisation, and music sharing.
  • Positive Social Interactions: Engaging in cooperative music-making to build peer connections.
  • Community Building/Inclusion: Creating a safe and supportive environment where each participant feels valued.
  • Self-Advocacy Skills: Practicing self-expression and boundary-setting through personalized music activities.
  • Body Awareness: Incorporating movement-based music activities to promote mindfulness and body awareness.
  • Emotional Identification: Exploring emotions through lyric analysis, instrument play, songwriting, and other music activities.

No music experience is required! Whether your tween is drawn to singing, rhythm, or just enjoys listening to music, there’s a place for them in this group.
