Description:

This class will cover basic bookbinding techniques, introduction to the book structure and methods of planning layout and graphic design. We will be making an accordion artist book with cyanotype pages at the end. If you love crafting items, want to have handmade journals, or having the skills to develop your own writing or visual art work into a book format, this class would be a match for you. No previous bookmaking experience is required to enroll. Students will leave the class with tools and skills to bind their own books and put them in use toward more complex projects.

Some techniques we will cover:
- Pamphlet making (pamphlet stitch, two sewn-in-one).
- coptic stitch with exposed spine, glued spines (and bookcloth)
- Making of custom covers, and special page inserts.
- hard cover case bound book
-Japanese stitch and binding using hardwares.
