Description:
For intermediate/advanced painters. In this class students will learn to paint a cityscape based on an image of their choosing. You will learn skills to build a striking composition using 1 point and 2 point Linear Perspective to illustrate the illusion of depth on a 2-D space. We will discuss color theory, color temperature, & color mixing to achieve this effect. This class is best suited to intermediate and advanced students who have prior drawing and painting experience. Students may bring oil, acrylic, or gouache to class. About the Instructor: Hadas Tal was born in Israel and holds an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and a BFA in Painting & Design from the Mason Gross School of Art in New Brunswick, NJ. She has won numerous awards and has shown in galleries and museums across the US and abroad, including Maybaum Gallery, Paul Thiebaud Gallery, and the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco; New York Academy of Art; and more. She was named Top Ten Artists to Watch by California Home & Design in 2012.

Notes: Supplies: - Canvas or board, 24x24”. No smaller than 14x18”. Larger if you’re feeling ambitious is fine! - A variety of paint colors of your choice in a wide range from light to dark. Include black and white. An example spread of paint colors might include: Van Dyke brown or burnt umber; blue black; dark green color; dark violet color; dark cool red as in Alizarin Crimson; warm red as in Cadmium Red; yellow ochre; raw sienna; Windsor orange; light blue as in kings blue; white; black; transparent red oxide or burnt sienna. - Palette knife, disposable palette or palette of your choice - Rag to wipe paint - Odorless mineral spirits in a closed container - Medium to mix paint, for example Liquin or other medium - Variety of brushes ranging in size from small to large *For Acrylic & Gouache Painters same as above minus the odorless mineral spirits & medium Reach out to Hadas with any questions: 415-852-1208; scubadasi@yahoo.com.
