About the Group

Our Kindergarten Preparation Social Group is a group for children ages 3-5 years old which focuses on the preparation and integration of children into classroom life. It allows children to learn and develop key skills needed for a smooth transition into elementary school. Our ethos looks at using socialization as a means for learning skills such as listening and communicating whilst developing literacy, numeracy and fine motor skills such as tracing, writing and reading.

This group has a maximum of 4 children.

Skills Development Focus

Our program will look at developing the following skills;
*Help dress and undress (jackets, hats, gloves, sweaters, shoes).
*Use safety scissors, hold pencils, color.
*Socialize with peers, respect others, understand the concepts of sharing and taking turns.
*Draw shapes, trace letters, write names, match pictures, identify numbers.
*Eat independently.
*Fine Motor Skills: Throwing, catching, kicking etc.
*Listening, follow directions.

Goals for this Program

1. To enable children to learn and develop skills required for kindergarten and the comfortable integration into school life.
