Join us for a session on the fundamentals and advantages of worm composting –a remarkable method to nurture vibrant and thriving gardens that surpasses traditional composting in efficiency. During this workshop, you will delve into the world of worm composting, discovering its potential for generating an effective and organic fertilizer using your own supply. Not only will you learn how to minimize the organic waste leaving your household, but you will also witness the magic of microorganisms that enrich the biodiversity in your soil, promoting a flourishing ecosystem. Moreover, you will see worms doing their job in real time to get familiar with this practice and will receive a comprehensive, step-by-step tutorial on constructing your own worm composting system with minimal expense. Instructor's Bio Neill McCallum is a science teacher with undergraduate studies in Biology and Education and graduate studies in Education, with practical experience growing food gardens, mason beekeeping, vermicomposting and instructing on the use of iNaturalist. In 2022 was recognized by BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation as Teacher Champion for his passion for educating about BC agriculture, food and environment. Online pre-registration is required.

Notes: Please note that registration will close at 2:30 p.m. PT, one business day before the event. Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given for education courses. A credit will be applied to your account for cancellations with one week's notice. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost. Credits must be used within one year from the date issued.
