Description:

Transform your home or small garden into an urban micro-farm in this in-person workshop presented by a Sustainable Design Professional. In this holistic class, explore living walls, vermicomposting, window farms, and other indoor planting systems to add edible greenery to your home without taking up much space. Learn principles of planning your garden, managing water and light requirements, and which plants are most suitable. Instructor Dr. Yael Stav will demonstrate a selection of examples of the various designs you can use for your indoor micro-farm to enjoy a variety of plants year-round.

This course includes an optional hands-on component if you want to prepare your own microgreens tray and/or sprouting jars during class.

Microgreens and sprouts kits are sold separately and are not included in the course fee. Please go to the “Add-ons & Gifts” section and include the kit(s) in your cart. 

The due date for purchases: Materials - May 25, at noon. Course fee - May 27, at 4 pm.  

This course will take place in the Guides Classroom at VanDusen’s Visitor Centre. Online pre-registration is required.

Notes: Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given for education courses. For cancellations with one week's notice, a credit will be applied to your account. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost. Credits must be used within one year from the date issued. Please notify us of your cancellation in writing to learn@vandusen.org

Prerequisites: VBGA COVID-19 Protocol: We require participants to be fully vaccinated for in-person courses presented indoors. Masks are no longer mandatory in all indoor public spaces in alignment with updates to the public health orders issued by the Provincial government. We encourage participants to wear a mask when indoors.
